Somerset West to host development fundraiser

The Somerset West Lions Club and the SA Golf Development Board (SAGDB) will be hosting a fundraising golf day at Somerset West Golf Club on the 18th of February 2007. All money raised will go towards supporting young golfers in the Helderberg area.

The funds will be administered by the Lions Club, and contribute towards the costs of transporting SAGDB players to junior foundation tournaments.

“It’s important for us to build positive relationships with the communities in which we operate, so the initiative shown by the Somerset West Lions Club is very welcome,” said SAGDB media liaison Patrick Cairns. “It would be wonderful if more of these efforts could be made.”

The day is being fully supported by the Somerset West Golf Club as part of their ongoing support of junior golf and golf development. Players wishing to enter the golf day should contact the club on 021 852 3625. The cost per three-ball is R600, with the final player in each fourball being a player from the SAGDB.

“It would be wonderful if the people in and around Somerset West could come out and support this fundraising effort,” said Cairns. “Not only will they enjoy a great day of golf and special prizes, but they will be making a difference in the lives of deserving young golfers.”
