Players from the SAGDB programme in KwaZulu Natal put in excellent performances at KZN Junior Golf Tournaments during the April school holidays.

The best showing came from Umhlali Country Club member Brian Khumalo, who won the 2013 Shelagh Digby Trophy played at the Durban Country Club's Beachwood Course. The three handicapper shot a round of 76 to win by a single shot.

Fellow SAGDB player Nhlanhla Nene took second place in the nett competition of the same event. He carded a round of 80, which gave him a nett score of 71 on his nine handicap.

Earlier in the month, at the Prentice Memorial Trophy played at Royal Durban GC, Samuel Gouma shot a score of 75 to finish second overall. He was just two shots behind the eventual winner.

The next day, Wandile Mnyamana finished second in the B division at the Umhlali Junior Champs. He shot an 18-hole score of 87 at the Umhlali Country Club.

"I am very proud about the way our boys performed at these tournaments," said the SAGDB's development manager for KZN Joseph Kunene. "I would also like to thank the KZN Golf Union for covering all the costs of getting our juniors to compete in these events."
