Good return at u/14 Invitational

Hilmi Mallick finished second at the Boland u/14 Invitational

Players from the SAGDB's ranks in three provinces played leading roles in the recent Boland u/14 Invitational staged at Worcester Golf Club. Although the conditions were extremely cold and windy, the youngsters produced some sizzling golf.

Two SAGDB learners featured in the Western Province side that won the team event. Hilmi Mallick shot rounds of 75 and 79 to finish as the second best individual player on display over the 36-hole tournament, while Tristan Galant contributed an 85 and an 87 to push his team to a two-shot victory.

The Boland team that came second was spearheaded by SAGDB learner Riaan Rooi, who carded rounds of 78 and 81 to finish fifth in the individual standings. Jamie Joseph's first round of 78 put him right up with the leaders too, but unfortunately he could only manage a 91 in the second round. He ended fifteenth overall.

Although the Eastern Province team were not as competitive as they would have hoped, SAGDB learner Will Kerneels would have learnt a lot from the experience. He shot rounds of 94 and 86 to finish in twenty-seventh place.
