Experience for Zethu

Zethu Myeki was given the opportunity to play for Mpumalanga 'B' at the recent WGSA 72-Hole Teams Championships

One of the SA Golf Development Board's most promising girls, Zethu Myeki, had the opportunity to gain valuable experience at the recent Womens Golf South Africa 72-Hole Teams Championship. Zethu was co-opted into playing for the Mpumalanga ‘B' team at the event held at Graceland in Mpumalanga.

Zethu was originally selected to play for the ‘B' side of her home province, Border, but this team was withdrawn when the other two players were unable to play. She was however thrown a lifeline by Mpumalanga, which was looking for someone to fill a space in their team.

"Zethu's scores were 84, 83, 75 and 82, which is not at all bad considering this was her first big tournament," said the SAGDB's Border development manager Millie Zim. "She was very happy with the experience she gained."

The Mpumalanga ‘B' team finished 9th out of 13 teams in the ‘B' section. Zethu was placed 48th out of 74 players in the individual competition.

"I think if she works hard on her putting, we will see her scores come down," Zim said.

Zethu is currently an associate member of the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation.
