Solid return for Lwazi at Border Champs

The SA Golf Development Board's top player in Border, Lwazi Gqira, put in a solid showing at the recent Border Championships at West Bank Golf Club. The three handicapper from East London carded rounds of 76, 73 and 79 to finish 23rd in the 46-player field.

While he was happy with his return in the first two rounds, Lwazi was disappointed that he didn't improve his performance over the final 18 holes to move up the leaderboard.

"He acknowledged that he needs to work on his mental fitness and course management," said the SAGDB's manager for Border, Millie Zim. "Especially when playing in the wind, these are crucial factors."

Lwazi also performed well at his recent club championships at East London Golf Club. He finished in the top eight to qualify for the matchplay, but was unfortunately beaten in the first round.

Lwazi is currently an associate member of the Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation.
